Put the loaf in the pot, add some chopped onions/garlic, salt, pepper, sugar. Cover with water and boil for approx 2 hours.

I peel off the plastic (Israeli, Hungarian style loaf) put it in boiling water with a peeled carrot and an onion. Boil for a hal hour, let cool. Drain and put in a plastic storage container in the fridge.

Thank you all.
So some of you are saying boil half hour and some say for 2 hours! Which one is really the correct way?

Put a loaf of fish in an inch if water and turn on a med-low flame for 90 min, can leave longer so long as water still there. Remove as soon as you shut the flame and slide out of paper wrapper onto paper towels on top of foil. Wrap up.

Spices carrots onions are all extras.

My cooking limited husband does it every week. Take it out of the brand packaging. Keep in the parchment paper wrapping. Boil a soup pot of water. When the water has boiled, put in gefilte fish. Bring it back to a boil (takes me about 15 min), then lower it to a simmer for 90 min (small bubbles). Thats the instructions on the brand we buy and never fails. Slice and serve with chrain.

My post. Really helpful responses.
What I do now- boil water with pot mostly filled with water with one onion, few pieces of carrot, 1 c sugar, and sprinkle of black pepper. When boiling, add GF and let simmer for 1.5 hours. I usually leave it with loose covering I.e. silver foil covering.

Also do not defrost GF before boiling or take it out of parchment paper when boiling!

My only recommendation, which I think I mentioned at the end of my original thread, is after boiling the GF for 1.5 hours, drain water and let it sit out for a half hour or so in pan to avoid the loaf from being too mushy...

The loaf has to be frozen before cooking. I cook mine for 1 1/2 hours. Not more
