I'm in my 50s. I never liked talking on the phone and love all the technology that lets us communicate I'm writing.

I disliked talking on the phone long before texting existed.

I've disliked speaking on the phone even as a teen, long before anyone owned cellphones. I think it's just my nature. Nothing to do with technology.

Same. Hated talking on land lines.

Hate talking on phone. Lots of small talk and not sure how to end the conversation.
Text is so convenient. Just answer and don’t answer when I feel like it.

Hated it even before cell phones were invented.

Some people are uncomfortable being unable to see the person they're talking to. Reasons can include hearing impairment-- deprived of the assistance of lip reading, they don't catch much of what's being said; inability to gauge the person's body language, which also interferes with understanding the true message; inability to see the person's reactions to what they say; inability to see if the person is even paying attention, or if they're off doing something else entirely and not listening at all; inability to see if someone else is listening in a convo they intend to be confidential is actually being shared with an unknown number of eavesdroppers.

Before I had a cell phone , or email, I preferred writing letters and corresponding via snail mail than to talk on the phone.

No I don't like texting either. I'm extremely introverted and don't like connecting with people in general. DH and my kids provide enough human interaction for me.

There are so many times I wish I could go down to a person and take face to face instead of in the phone....

Nope, I hated phone calls before cell phones were a thing. Texting was G-d's special gift to people like me and I'm old enough to appreciate that.

I do but not always and certainly not when the goal is to exchange information that could have been a text.

If all I want is to ask or answer a question or verify something, texting is great. I don't necessarily want to have a whole shmooze on the phone, esp. if we're going to be meeting shortly anyway. A text "running late, be there in five" is perfect.
