There are gentle things you can do outside of therapy and meds. So it doesn't need to reach a threshold.
Imo, children should be carefree and any noticeable anxiety (unless there is something obvious going on in their lives) is outside of the norm.

I have a high anxiety child and it has effected his life since he was a toddler too afraid to go down the slide at the park. My other kids were a little afraid but still went down this kid would sit and sit and I would have to go up there and get him so the other kids could have a turn. It effects his life in so many ways. I can just see how its different from him then my other kids or my friends kids.
We did end up medicating him for both anxiety and ADHD with a new non stimulant that was shown to treat anxiety. This was the end of 1st grade he was 7.5. He was struggling too much and this helped a lot.
I ask myself a lot is this the hill I want to die on and that tells me what to do if I push something or not. OT helps him. Also collaborative problem solving. Over the years he has outgrown many fears with just time and patience but school is a big trigger that will be life long. So we spend a lot of time on it.
