Saying I’m starting to charge them for software - QuickBooks is now charging an annual fee and it’s a lot, I want to pass the fee onto them.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the desktop update only allowing it to be subscription.

Most of my clients are quickbooks online. They pay a monthly subscription so it’s not that relevant on my end.
For me personally it’s worth swallowing the $500 rather than charging clients.

But you can write that the subscription cost of quickbooks has really gone up and you will be adding a $10 charge per month to cover it. Or give them the option to migrate to QBO which would cost them $30-$200 a month depending on what level subscription they need.

Personally if I was a client I would be bothered if I got such an email. It would seem petty to me.

I would rather swallow it and then In January raise my prices a bit to cover it.
If your hourly go up $5 an hour. If your flat rate then add whatever it is…
