We'd like to do a few 2 day trips within 3-5 hour drive of NY. We have a 3 year old

I'd like to do Lancaster. The things I have to look into so far are: Kreider Farms, Herz factory, crayola factory, turkey hill ice cream factory, cherry crest farm and a tour of the Amish. Any recs of where to stay? Any kosher restaurants or best to pack bread and cheese, schnitzel etc? Minyanim?

What are some other nice day trips I can look into? We are on a budget so really dont want to spend sooo much.

Would be nice to be close to a minyan but my husband is ok davening beyechidus if he has to.

DH wont go to mixed beaches or water parks. Does Deal have separate beaches or quieter beaches with not many people?

Nothing else really comes to mind. We've never been to the country. Do people do day trips around the bungalows? We like museums, nature, nice walks, hikes. We're open to anything fun!

Regarding Lancaster, crayola factory is a hour and a half away, and Herr's is about 40 minutes so it may not work. We've gone to Lancaster science factory and had a great time. There's also Lancaster children's museum for younger kids. I found Dutch wonderland to be good. People say it's for younger kids, but there was still lots to do there. Then there's Hershey's. The amusement park is for older kids, and the chocolate tour is free. It's about 45 minutes from Lancaster, but people stay in Lancaster for the shul and food

Where did you stay? We'd love a suite in a reputable hotel.

Cherry crest farm is so so fun for kids all ages even my teens had fun there! Don’t do the ice cream factory or rlly any food factories ur kids will b bored and unhappy. Touring Amish is also quite boring for young kids. There’s lots of places to just hike, parks with tons of grass area to run. Crayons factory is grt but maybe have that on the way to Lancaster then head into Lancaster for the night then do the farm for the day go back for sleep and on the way home stop somewhere else. When stopping midway to an entertainment place it also cuts the driving and kids will b less antsy.

We love Lancaster and go every summer!

Attractions that we have been to with young kids include:
Cherry crest farm
Long's Park
Hands on house children's museum
choo choo barn
Dutch wonderland
National toy train museum
Kreider's farm
Amish buggy ride
Strasbourg railroad

This year we plan on going to Lancaster science factory.

I have also heard of tiny town which is prob perfect for a 3 year old.

I wouldn't go to crayola. It's really far from lancaster. Personally we go there for mid winter vaca.

We used to stay in residence inn. Once we had 3 kids we switched to airbnb.

We bring all our food along. There isn't much good kosher food there.
It's basically cereal, milk and yogurt for breakfast
Sandwiches with diff spreads for lunch
Bbq for dinner
Fruits/veggies/snack bags for snacks

There is a shul

In Lancaster: There’s a great hotel, DoubleTree, that has a shachris, just bc so many frum families go. They may have a maariv as well, I don’t recall. The hotel also has a nice pool and a kiddie indoor water park. The shul in Lancaster makes pizza and they bbq burgers, cutlets and hotdogs. Plus they have a small market that sells nosh, ice cream, milk. Etc….My family LOVES Lancaster

Cool! This was so helpful.
How far are they from the Amish and all the farms?
and the double tree is 2400 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602?

Yes, on Willow Street. They are very friendly to families. They even have a small fishing pond to sit by or catch/release.
They are minutes from Amish activities! About 15-20 minutes from Degel Israel.

We did Lancaster last summer. Stayed in DoubleTree Hilton with pool and kiddush water park.
Food I brought grill and Betty crocker.
There were so many drum ppl the minyan times were listed in the hotel lobby.

We did:
Day 1: dutch wonderland
Day 2: kreiders farm tour- amazing
Horse and buggy ride and Amish farm
Day 3: cherry crest farm

We had a great time. Another nice idea is to stay on a working farm.

This summer we may go to Niagara falls.

The Poconos is another great option. Beautiful hikes and falls, BushkilI Falls being one of them,(that one you may have to pay for, but definitely other ones you don't), lots of other really nice stuff to do. I believe there's a Jewish owned hotel (maybe in the BushkilI area?) and there's Camp Dora Golding for boys in East Stroudsburg for minyanim.

Awesome! Are there any working farms you suggest?
