Irks me too. Also when people spell it Shobbos.

Probably because your brain is used to seeing it spelled one way, so the slight difference makes your brain uneasy. Like an itch you can't scratch.

We all have spelling/grammar things that we find irritating
My dad can’t stand when kids say had’tda instead of had to
I am beyond annoyed from she was nifteres
The spelling of Shabbat in English bothers uou

Ugh yes, so much! Another one is yuntif. I understand it's pronounced that way, but the words themselves are Yom Tov.

There is no one correct ashkrnazi way to spell שבת in english. Ive seen it written shabbis also.

Someone I know writes "Chonikah" for Chanukah, which also irritates.

According to the nekudot, it should be Shabbat (Shabbas if that's how you pronounce it).

Since when is yomtov pronounced yuntif? I never heard that before imamother. sounds kind of weird...
