idk what to do. how do I handle this? he's 16 months, has a stomach virus, probably teething, lost most of his appetite, and terrible separation anxiety or night terrors, idk which.
he used to love going into his crib after a long day, he'd snuggle in his blanket and settle in fast.
now he refuses to lay down, he screams if I step away from his crib. he holds on to me for dear life, wakes up multiple times a night.
idk how to help him or how to handle it. this is going on for almost a week.
anyone have any idea what I need to do? for now I stay near him till he falls asleep or he falls asleep on me. the minute I move him he wakes up and we start again. it's not sustainable.

It’s a passing stage. Take it a day at a time. It’s normal.

I think so too but idk how to handle it. do I stay near him till he falls asleep and then tiptoe out like a burglar? will I get him used to that so that when he "recovers" he'll still need me there?

Funny question, but are you pregnant?

Pediatrician tomorrow. Check his ears and for strep. Refuah sheleima.
But for now, maybe have him sleep in your bed. The kid is miserable and too young to express himself properly. It's not easy being a tiddler especially when sick.

I would not bring my baby to my bed but that’s just me. I have a bunch of kids and none of them ever slept in my bed at any age.
Definitely would take him to the doctor just to check things out.

Do what you feel you can. For me I let them cry for a bit and go in periodically to soothe. If they wake during the night I change their diaper and put them back with a bottle.

I dont take him to my bed but I stand by his bed as long as it takes. last night he fell asleep standing in his crib while I stood hugging him. over the weekend I let him nap on me or walked him while he slept in the carriage. I feel terrible for him. I guess I'll just keep doing what im doing and hope when he feels better he wont be un-sleep-trained.
