This shabbos is called Chazon. It is called so because we read from yeshayah, which begins.
The prophecies of Isaiah son of Amoz, who prophesied concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
This haftarah is a rebuke to the Jewish people for their actions which lead to the exile, yet we focus on the chazon, the vision.
The Berditchever Rebbe says a moshol. A parent gifts their child with a suit, the child ruins it, they then gives the child another, again the suit is ruined. The parent then tells the child that they will need to earn the next set of clothes with responsible behaviour.
In order to keep the child motivated, the parent will offer a glimpse of the prize on certain occasions, to remind the child of the good things to come.
Hashem too shows us our neshama a glimpse, a vision of geula. This shabbos our neshama is allowed to see a vision a chazon of what is to come.
Even though we are approaching tisha beav, Hashem gives us hope. The goal is there and worth working towards.
