I brought a maxi dress to a seamstress to hem. It's a size 2x and very full skirt. Only one layer, no lining. She charged $30. Does that sound about right for the job? Was higher than I was expecting but not sure my expectations were realistic

Unfortunately that sounds right. I’ve always been told that fuller skirts are more difficult to hem and therefore cost more then say, a pencil skirt.
There’s been times I spent more on tailoring something than the actual clothing item!

Off the bat it does sound like a lot to me. But I haven't given in something like that in a while so not sure. Probably also dependent on the location.
Last year I gave in a robe to hem. Also quite full and I think I paid 15
