Is there any reason Duolingo should not be used by teens? My teen has it but I'm realizing I know nothing about it. I do know she competes with friends so I'm assuming that means she can compete with strangers as well. Also I looked up some reviews and it seems they are pro lgbtq and a lot of their characters are lesbian or gay. Can someone explain this game to me?

Yes but you can follow people and people can follow you.

I think you can turn off the social features. In terms of content, though, there are going to be sentences to translate involving men and their boyfriends, etc., and there are the stories. The stories used to be a variety of unrelated stories, but I believe they're currently all about the Duolingo characters. These characters include a gay man (Oscar), a lesbian (Lin), and a bisexual woman (Bea). Some of the stories are about them dating. There's also a creepy story called "I Want To Be Like You" about a boy who assumes his father is a lion tamer because he finds what he thinks is lion taming gear.

Whoah, wait is this true? My high schooler is in an OOT yeshiva and is using this for "Hebrew language" class. Is this only true for certain languages?
