This is SOOO exciting. BH my son is being hired as a Dayan. I want to express my excitement with a gift. I can't imagine what he would appreciate. I can't think of anything meaningful. Please can you chime in with suggestions? I'd love to hear. TIA

Ask him if there's a sefer/set that he really wants but hasn't been able to get yet. His answer may surprise you

A beautiful wooden desk shtender, I think that's what they're called? I've seen with wood and silver. You can get it engraved also.

I was also going to suggest seforim or a Sefer he really wants. There’s also a Sefer called Aneini with a bunch of Tefillohs- maybe that.
Enjoy your Nachas.

Sponsor something in a kollel in his name

If he would appreciate it, add a strip his atara

Give him an extra 100 for an extra mehudar esrog

Living Torah museum sells mini choshens which is a big segulah to own

Umein v'umein and thank you for the mazel tov.
I'd spend a few hundred dollars on this. No family members are dayanim, so this is extra special.

Poster means that if he is becoming a dayan that will pasken niddah shailos, he will use these.

A strong targeted light and a loupe-like a jewelers loupe. Which is a very strong, small magnifying glass that goes over one eye…

Mazal tov! Only much continued nachas and BE”H he should be mazliach…

Gift card to sfrorim store.
Otzer Hachochma (expensive)

If you want to score points get something special for his wife (even a box of chocolates).
When my husband did dayanus I made sacrifices each day so he could do his learning. If my MIL would have recognized my sacrifice in his accomplishments she would have looked like the best MIL ever.
I don’t expect MILs to do that most of them get caught up in their own pride and joy. But the ones that do deserve a gold metal.
Also, it would make your son love you even more because he sees how much you’re vouching for his marriage.

If DIL is on here get something for MIL or at least acknowledge that she raised him to be so bright and determined. You will be world’s best DIL.

אמן ואמן.
Thanks loads for all of your responses. I really like getting responded to so quickly. So I'll update. I spoke with my DIL so I can have a better sense . I'm getting him a set oitzer halacha because he wants to buy it eventually and a jewelers loupe 😘. Thank you for the recommendation. The 2 gifts are from my DIL and me together but I'm paying for both . I'm getting my DIL something big as well based on what she randomly mentioned in the past.א כתובה וחתומה טובה and a git gebentsht yur to all of klal yisroel
