The only time you don’t make a shehecheyanu for a y”t, are the last 2 days of pesach.

Shmini Atzeres ( & Simchas Torah) is a new yom tov vs. Sukkos. Pesach is 1 yom tov with 2 parts.

On this note my grandma always put on a new thing by second night shechyanu. Something about it being iffy since there's only one day in e'y. Anyone have a source for this ? Although I'm happy to get new things for my shechiyanu

Lots of people get confused with second night RH. And even then, if you don't have something new, u can still make

We used to do this too. Not that it was a must, but if we got something new for yt, we would wear it in the second night.
R'h is a new fruit on the table.
