I recently switched to Dr Surowitz’s practice because I heard wonderful things about her (and I’ve so far had only pleasant experiences there) and because she uses Monmouth. However I’ve recently begun hearing that she is now only using Jersey Shore- but it’s all hearsay. Can anyone confirm that they’ve heard this firsthand? Hoping not to have to switch again…
**ETA: can we all please be tactful and careful about Shmiras Halashon when answering. She is a wonderful individual and would not like this thread to turn into ppl giving their negative experiences. Just simply answer the question- any other comments feel free to start your own thread. Thanks

jersey shore maternity unit is great. monmouth is also, but jersey shore is not any worse or better. its just that the whole lakewood uses monmouth so of course you can't be different....

Not true. Sorry. MMC doesn't require masks for a long time anymore.

I heard that on here too. Why don’t u ask them? And please do report back.
I assume if they are switching there would be at a minimum signs up in the office. I would have also thought they should send out a notice to all their patients but 🤷🏻♀️

Jersey shore does, I was just there for something not pregnancy related.

Correct
Jersey shore is a more natural minded hospital
Monmouth board didn’t like her c-section rates (they were too low, which they should be) because it brings in less revenue.
Anyone using her should be happy
They also didn’t like the attention she gave her birthing center
Believe me, all the reasons are more of a reason to use her

Last I heard (a few years ago) jersey shore did not have a nursery and baby rooming in is required. This pre dated covid.
Is that still a rule? That nixed that hospital for me.

Monmouth doesn't require masks was there recently.
Also doesn't Giovinne also have extremely low c section rates ? Is that the real reason? (Could very well be I'm just curious)

They encourage it but they took my baby for the night when I requested it.

That is not the real reason - ask anyone in Lakewood who works in the OB field...
she said that she is understaffed and has therefore been unable to give her patients proper attention

I use Surowitz and am in my 9th month.
The most up to date information is that they are switching to Jersey Shore but are still in the paperwork stage. There isn't an official switch date set and they are still using Monmouth (or the birthing center!) in the meantime

Not her license! Her hospital privileges
I am a doula who has worked alongside many drs in Lakewood and she impresses me more than most to be honest
I would tell you to do your research…
