I cant watch it but I live here and its not funny at all the marathon. Maybe dh is on there running through. No transportation for the kids. Bedford ave closed for close to 12 hours!!

I don't Know, I grew up in Williamsburg and lived there a few years as a married woman.
Everyone knew the marathon date and we planned to stay home..... it's just one day. The kids would sit out if HOURS. We absolutely loved it.

I actually just saw a video of crossing at a marathon where they block off half the width of the road, people get to the center while the runners are running in the other half, and then they open the road in back of them for the runners and the people cross in front of it….
Maybe this can be implemented next year at certain crossings.

These marathons can be a real problem. They once had one going down my street, and my poor grandparents who were almost 90 years old needed to cross to get to the dentist. My grandfather needed to take a certain medicine before going to the dentist, so he took it at home and then they stood there trying to figure out how they could get across. The police actually did not allow anyone across except for when they saw a break between the runners. Since my grandparents were not fast walkers, they had to wait a long time to cross, and they got to the dentist extremely late.

If I was training for a marathon for months and years I think I would get very upset if someone suddenly tried to cross in the middle.

I don't run marathons. I don't live near marathons. I honestly don't know what the solution would be.

I'm from Williamsburg and I think that it's hilarious. It's so funny to watch people try to cross the street. We used to cross for the fun of it.

That's just too bad. It's not our problem that they're running on a busy avenue in a busy neighborhood. Thousands of people need to cross the Avenue. It's about time they change the route. I'm sure that jews are not the only one's that need to cross the avenue during the marathon.
