My FIL claims that if you put a pitcher of unfiltered water in the fridge, nobody can taste the difference from filtered.

If I get a pitcher with a filter, is there a version that doesn't require filter replacing every 2 months? It seems that this would be quite expensive to keep up.

Do you mean filtered for kashrus reasons or filtered for health/taste?

Anything with a filter, you will need to replace regularly. Brita filters are good because you'll only be filtering what you drink, vs a faucet filter that filters all water. You can buy generic filters that are cheaper.

The Brita is great, I don't find we need to replace the filter all that often
And it's cheap when compared to water bottles...

We used the brita for a few years. But it didn't filter out the water well enough. We have well water but the public pipes are old....
We kept the brita filter tank near the sink and had to refill it every day or once in 2 days max. It was annoying and time consuming.

The Britain pitcher is more handy but it needs to be refilled even faster.
If you live in monroe area I'd gladly give you mine. It's sitting in my garage. I think I have an extra 6 months filter too. (Brita has longer lasting 6 month filters too)

This is the one dh installed this summer.
The water tastes amazingly clear. And it's a kot better. The filters need to be changed every 2 years. 1 I think has to be every 6 months.
It's pretty cheap and east to replace (or so dh says. Lol)

We used to go thru 1.5-5 cases spring water a week. And we already recouped the price of the filter.
It was on sale when we bought it for $174.
With the coupon now it's $190.
From July until now, we already saved$$$ on it. Bottled water would have costed a minimum of $300 for all these months.

If your dh is a bit handy it's reasonably easy to install.
