My son just turned one this week. He is the best things that’s ever happened to me and I love him to death! I want to do what’s best for him and I know what that is, but I find myself somewhat addicted to my phone and I keep going back to it instead of spending time playing with and interacting with him. I notice that he gets upset when I sit down with my phone and I feel so guilty, but I don’t know why I can’t stop.
Although I’m pretty sure I’m a good mom in general, I’m not the one I want to be.
Would really love some advice!!

Try to put your phone out of reach. Out of sight out of mind. But even at this age they do need some chilling time so you can go ok your phone once an hour for a few minutes. As long as he is safe and happy. My now 3 year old always knew when I picked up my phone at that age it was to take a picture or video...

I’m in the exact same position! Sometimes I’ll turn music or a podcast on so I’m looking at my baby while still scratching the itch of needing my phone.
Phone addiction is so rampant and powerful. BH for Shabbos which makes us take a break from it.

Try putting it away in your room while you're with him. Or use an app like Lock Me Out to lock all the addictive/time wasting apps.
