Anyone ever fell off Medicaid when pregnant? It’s time to renew but my income no longer qualifies and I’ll likely be kicked off. No insurance from employer. Is marketplace my best option?

Are you sure you'll fall off? Pregnancy limits are pretty high.

Did you send in proof of pregnancy while you still qualified? Because if you did then you won’t lose benefits.

I don’t know the laws in NY but in NJ once someone is pregnant (and notified Medicaid) they can’t be kicked off till after the birth.

Ok here’s my story:

Since Covid our Medicaid has kept renewing. They have our full income but couldn’t take us off due to Covid. That has now ended. My Medicaid is expiring in March but my son’s Medicaid is expiring at the end of December. I use an insurance agency to help me with the paperwork. They said that it is likely that when we process the application we will all get kicked off (not just my son).
We make a lot more than the FPL but we also have so many necessary expenses (student loans, high car insurance premiums, daycare) and paying an extra 1000/month for my insurance will really squeeze us.

Op, recertify as normal & indicate you are pregnant. At least in NY I don't think they would kick off a pregnant woman. They also consider the unborn baby as an additional family member which ups the allowed income, & like others said the allowed income is way higher when pregnant.

Had that too. I bought a bronze plan. It was about 650 a month. Routine OB visits were free. Maxed out on my about 6k deductible for labor and delivery... It was the best option then. Now I'm looking into health share options.

I had that. Am paying out of pocket for insurance and will be paying a huge sum for the birth and hospital bill…

I’m pretty sure the income allowance for a family of three with a pregnancy is 55 k. We are two full time working parents so our income is a lot higher than that..

Do health shares have co-pays and deductibles?

Update: I had a miracle! My income is way above the limit (like 600%) and I stayed on! I don’t know how if happened but I’m very grateful.

It’s possible they’ll keep you on until after the baby

I’m actually on Medicaid and pregnant but my dr doesn’t accept it, so I had to get additional insurance through the marketplace. Planning to cancel it the second the baby is born!
