Fifty-two shabbosim, all year round, Mishpachtainu provides lively shabbos meals and hospitality with uplifting speakers and singers to revitalize single moms, while their children are with their fathers.
Founded by Yehudis Sherman, who experienced the heartbreak of single motherhood firsthand, Mishpachtainu offers vital support, food pantries, emergency funding, workshops, and holiday gifts and toys to help our Mighty Moms continue to provide for their families and raise happy, healthy kids.

As the demand for Mishpachtainu's services continues to rise, so does the need for support. Today, our sisters are turning to you to help keep Mishpachtainu alive and strong for single mothers and their children.

Wow this is so special.

Yesterday was the first Shabbos I sat in my normal seat and DH’s seat was empty in the dining room.

All the other shabboses that we were home, we had guests so I turned the table and added a folding table, so our regular seats kinda disappeared. This Shabbos I just had a few guests that fit at that regular table.

The people that invite me out are so incredibly kind, but it’s so incredibly awkward and weird and depressing to be a guest without DH. And to walk down the blocks that we’ve walked on together hundreds of times together, knowing that he’ll never walk at my side again.

I don’t know what’s harder, how prominently DH is missing over Shabbos, or the weekday pressures and death certificate types of errands that I have to deal with.
