Anyone had a child, thats B"H healthy in every other way, who refused solids at 16 months?

No never ate solids.

Avocado is the closest to any solids this child has eaten.

Evaluate them asap. They often need intervention and the earlier the better.

Yes. Until my husband’s grandmother stuffed him with peas at 25 months and he actually enjoyed it.

For the next child I did baby led weaning starting at 5.5 months.

While you wait for an evaluation to be set up, cut up food in finger length strips place them on the tray and let them explore. Stop spoon feeding many kids never go for it and hate mashed food. Give real food. Keep offering it by having it in front of them available.

Wow. Get an eval ASAP. Solids should start at 4-6 months.

It can come from a mineral deficiency. I had it with 2 kids. As soon as I gave them a high quality multi vitamin and mineral supplement they started eating.

There’s data out there regarding this but I’m too exhausted to fetch it

None of my kids ate solids so early. (Maybe a bit of solids by 16 months?)
What would you be evaluating them for and what would the treatment look like?

They ate some solids but very little, were very picky eaters and always preferred nursing instead. By 16 months they were eating more solids than just avocado like OPs baby but I can't remember how much more. I'm just wondering what issue imamother is diagnosing them with Laugh

See a baby nutritionist - someone who specializes in kids 0-2. It helped us.

One of my kids was just really sensory, strong gag reflex, hated textures, strong smells, unusual tastes. She also had low muscle tone in general, and refused to eat anything that required effort to chew. She is in elementary school now and is fine, though still picky about the above things. Important to also get an evaluation with a speech therapist who specializes in feeding, they can help identify the source of the problem.

Someone else in my family wouldn't eat solids, turns out the kid had several (mild or moderate allergies, and so had already associated eating with discomfort, and just wasn't interested in food. My friend's kid also wouldn't really eat because of allergies, but he has a more serious allergic condition (some kind of mast cell disorder, maybe EoE). So probably worth it to visit an allergist.

What happens when you put food in their mouth?

My 3rd child had terrible gag relux anytime they ate if it wasnt completely smooth, Store bought baby jars were ok but if I made them at home she would gag as it wasnt as smooth. every day I would give her a bit regardless and it slowly went better. since she knew she would gag should wouldnt open her mouth to eat, I had to push it in and eventually she was managing to eat without gagging but at the begining I would still have to force the food in her mouth after the first spoon she went for more happily she just had to get over the fear each day again.
I felt horrible doing it but I knew it was the correct thing (someone who had gone for help with similar was told to do it)
The first time she ate a peice of scrambled egg on her own without gagging I danced it was so exciting. there were some back steps occasionally but BH she is my best eater and loves all types of food.

OP its harder now as they are older I started at 6/7 months but might be something to try. also if you are giving bottles/nursing, dont try food straight after a bottle or when they are crying for the next one. they have to be in a happy mood but starting to get hungry.

Not zero food but close. They got speech for feeding and OT for sensory and they’re still super picky but at least somewhat functional. I can’t even imagine where we would be if we didn’t get them professional help.

Wouldnt there be other developmental signs of autism at 16 months?

I assume your child is normal B"H. Did any Dr explain the cause of your child's eating issue?
