I see a shoe that I absolutely love. But the heel is pretty high. Is there a way to cut it so it’s shorter? Can a shoe repair do that for me?

I would imagine it can't be cut too drastically since the incline of the arch is proportionate to the height of the heel so cutting it would make the shoe off balance

Doubt it because of the arch angle.. Just be a little daring and go for the higher heel!  Or maybe google around the style and you may find it in a lower heel.. If you post a link can try look around..

I have cut a heel and it was fine
A inch sounds a lot, can you do half an inch

Don't ask us; ask your shoemaker. Heels can be trimmed down, but as noted above, not by much.
