Is anyone familiar with how this works? I am iyH due at the end of May. If I take 6 weeks disability normally you can take Paid Family leave after that for another 12 weeks. Do you know if I have a 10 month contract I am not about to take the Paid Family Leave through the summer?
Does it make a difference if I worked every summer the past 3 years, just not in the school?
Thanks

I had a baby in may and was told I couldn't take pfl in the summer, but I could take it any time until the following may from the school year.

So I took my 6 week disability, and then had the summer off with my usual summer pay, and am holding on to the rest of my leave.

I don't know if there's a way to use pfl for a seasonal job though

Thanks, has anyone else had experience with this?
I really can't afford to not get paid part of July and the whole August...

If you can't find it, basically you cannot claim family leave benefits if you are a teacher and school is out on a school-wide recess. If you usually work at a different job in the summer with qualifying wages then you can claim for that job. (If your summer job paid on a 1099 or was freelance work than those wages wouldn't qualify you.)

I don’t know any the summer job thing but I wanted to point out that for nj family leave after6 weeks disability:
Either you can take 12 weeks at once
Or 56 days (8 weeks) throughout the first year of your baby’s life)

You can also take leave from 4 weeks before your due date

That comes out to a really long time
I once made a cheshbon I could have taken off from April to October for the baby that’s due in may…
But no I really couldn’t cuz I told my boss I was expecting to take off 6-8 weeks lol
