Dd12 doesn’t want to go to the local day camps. She doesn’t want to go to sleep away either this year.
She doesn’t want to work with 2 year olds.. she wants to have a fun, great summer… all of her friends/classmates are going to a camp and she just wants a change of friends for the summer. Which I totally understand.
I’m trying to be creative. NY area
Any ideas?

What travelling camps are there for going into 7th grade? Not sure she’ll go for it since she said she wasn’t ready for sleep away.
Teen nights don’t help since what will she do during the day?

Apron Masters, a kosher cooking school in the 5T, runs a summer apprenticeship program for kids ages 11-15.

Oh well.
What is your daughter interested in? Would you be able to find her a "job" as an assistant somewhere?

Do you have relatives she can go to for a week? Maybe some who go to a bungalow colony? I did that when I was 12 and I had a blast!

I'm having the same problem with my 13 yr old dd. She went to camp last year and hated every minute, and so she's not interested in going to any sleep away program. She also worked in a day camp for half of last summer, and spoiler alert, she hated it.. I'm at a total and complete loss...

Bumping this up again… any brilliant ideas? I need something very smart and out of the box for dd.
Not a regular working in camp job

Same boat here. Except ny dd is 14. Brooklyn based. She can work in daycamp or I would love her to find a nice teen program geared for her age. Any ideas? She refuses tgo to sleepaway camp and there aren't any daycamps here for her age.

What does she enjoy doing? Could she tutor younger kids or study something for herself over the summer?
