We are going to an out of the way place. The only other frum Jews there will be a chabad family. It's hours away from a Jewish community. I would like to bring some things for them/the kids, but am not sure what would be most appreciated. I don't really know them, so I don't feel comfortable asking them outright. It can't be too heavy or overly expensive. I was thinking candy type things, chocolate, etc. Any chabad food restrictions I should know about? Everything would be pareve. Thank you! I want to bring some smiles to a family who is working hard for the klal 😀

I know you said pareve, but for these families
Cholov Yisroel chocolate is a real treat.
Pas Yisrael pretzels and crackers
Anything CY really
If you are buying candy, it should be kosher brand stuff that they can’t get local

I think if you ask the it would be most appreciated! You never know what little thing might be a huge help
And I'm sure the fact that you thought of them will be very touching

I would not give someone you don't know a tichel. They vary in fit amd style and you don't know what would be wanted.

I would not recommend tichels for the mom unless you ask, since the Lubavitcher Rebbe was extremely prosheital and anti tichel/wrap/etc..

Please please ask them, it's not weird at all. Grew up on shlichus and it was THE most appreciated thing when random people would reach out to us to say they were coming from a frum place and ask what we needed. And yes the answer was almost always cheese!! But, each place is different, who knows maybe they're lactose intolerant or import their own stuff. So definitely ask them.
