I was thinking about this recently when I tried teaching my baby, like why am I doing this? For me, it's because these are sounds they can say easily and words they can't yet, so it's nice to teach them something to get their brain working.

I think fat chance is more sarastic whereas slim chance is actually what it means! Maybe it was made up by the people who say I hate you instead of I love you from the other thread a few weeks ago LOL

From a literacy point of view, to be able to learn to read you need to be able to differentiate between different sounds. If you can't hear the difference between 'moo' and 'quack', you're going to struggle to hear the difference between letters. Animal sounds are just an easy and fun way of teaching sound discrimination.

But on a less serious note, why do feet smell and noses run?
