I made it and found the same thing. The batter was very thick. The outside of the cake hardened so much that I was nervous it wouldn’t be edible. In the end it was edible but not very moist. It was ok but it would be much better with more moisture. I was also left wondering if maybe a liquid ingredient was left out. (I also didn’t use the full 2c of sugar).

I made it this past shabbos, after seeing it posted here. It was definitely a thick batter, but came out yummy. Everyone liked it. Not the moistest cake, but wasn't too dry either. Try baking a few minutes less if it came out too dry.
