Other than going to a nutritionist, how do I figure out how many calories to eat if I want to lose 40 pounds?
What are healthy breakfast ideas?

Don't count calories. Eat high protein, high fat, very low carb. Eat real foods, not processed foods.
Best breakfast is eggs cooked in butter. Add some cheese if you want too.

Aim for 1400 calories a day
300 calories breakfast
400 calories lunch
500 calories dinner
100 calories morning snack
100 calories afternoon snack
2 fruit, 4 veggies a day
No eating after 8 pm
Drink at least 6 cups water a day
This is on the very low end of calories
Can transfer snack calories to meal calories or just increase calories altogether

Can you give a sample menu of a day? I also get confused that fruits are carbs. Are you essentially eating fat protein and vegetables? No fruits, no grain no oats no starchy vegetables?

Yep! I eat 3 eggs cooked in butter most days. Others I have leftover salmon or tuna (with homemade mayo). I'll sometimes eat full fat cottage cheese or full fat plain yogurt with some blueberries or strawberries (they are low glycemic). Never anything lowfat or processed. If I still feel the need for more, I'll have some raw or dry roasted nuts-almonds, wanuts or pumpkin seeds are my go to.
I eat breakfast at around 9am, and am not hungry for lunch. If needed, I have a snack of cheese, nuts or avocado around 3pm. Dinner is meat, fish, or eggs. And some sort of veggie.
No grains at all. And I'm not hungry or craving them.
And I need to go shopping for new clothing because a lot of my clothing are starting to be way to big!
