My son has been getting floortime for over a year. I would like to start getting him ot as well. His main issues are impulsiveness and emotional regulation. I have not seen any progress yet. They are still working on slowing him down and transitions. That's not an issue at home. I won't give any more details because I don't want to give myself away. Has anyone seen progress with floortime alone? Do you find they talk down to your child?

I don't have experience with that method specifically but the question I would ask myself in this situation is if it the right technique or if I need a different practitioner with the same method

Talking down to the child is NOT part of Floortime. Is the provider someone with a degree and license in a field, or just someone who was trained? IMO the ones who don't have a background and a degree in a related field are overall not competent.

It can sound like talking down but usually kids in floortime are missing certain developmental levels but have other higher ones. Idk this specific case but make sure the provider is trained in floortime

I am a floortime therapist and this sounds like it is taking a long time. Are they doing parent coaching sessions? The main thing in floortime when done right is empowering parents to have and be able to use all of the tools.
