I’m thinking of starting my own three year old playgroup in Lakewood. I’ve been a preschool teacher for the last 15 years. I have my masters in general and special ed. I also run my own camp in the summers. Just wondering how much I would be able to charge for hours 9:30-3, 15 children with an assistant, lunch and snacks included. I was also thinking of having a music teacher come in once a week. Would that factor in as something more attractive to offer or not really? Not sure of exact location yet. Also is it too late to start advertising for September?

There’s definitely a need for more playgroups!
Not sure what area you’re in, price range for that age can be anywhere from 475-550 in my area plus 300 or so for lunch and snacks for the year

I pay 650, no lunch but there is breakfast included. Also closer to 10 kids with 2 Morah’s, which I prefer. 15 sounds like a lot to me

I’m not in Lakewood.

I would not pay more for a music teacher.

I don’t think it’s too late for September.

I pay $450 (3 year olds) no lunch, yes snack, 9:15-3.

I’d pay $550 if it was till 3:30 and/or if lunch was included.

Last year I paid $550 for 8:45-3:15, I don’t think lunch was included.

I think you’d be better off charging more for less kids with assistant. There’s people who really want that.

I'm not familiar with 3 year olds.
South Lakewood, for 2 year olds you could charge $800 + the demand is so high you'd fill up. Not too late at all to start advertising!
Time is on your side. Even if you charge more than some are ready to pay, you have till September to fill up with clients who are willing to pay that amount for your amount of experience.

Can I just say that as a music teacher, I'm so happy you're thinking to include that in your program?

(I don't live in Lakewood, but when I come to visit, I sometimes volunteer in various places, it's really surprising to me how rare it is at many ages).

thank you everyone for your responses. Maybe I would do $650 14 kids. Less than that wouldn’t be so worth it for me.

you can charge that for 16 kids. You are undertaking an enormous job and to make it worth your while, charge accordingly.
3 year olds can be 16 kids per class.

650 for 14 or 16 kids? That sounds like a lot for three year old.

Lunch included or no?

Aren't 3 year olds in school? In Brooklyn playgroup is usually until 3, or turning 3 that year.
