I made a potato kugel last week and forgot about it. It's in the back of my fridge. Could I serve it this shabbos?
Will it still be good for shabbos?

I’m going to have to say nope. I’m sorry you’re going to have either make a new one or buy one.

Question, for all that said that said don't use is it is it because it won't taste good or it will be dangerous to eat because of bacteria or something.

Yes, of course you can still eat it.
My husband used to work in the food industry and had to take many courses on food safety.
Things last longer in the fridge than most people think.
Don't throw out a perfectly good kugel. What a waste.

Agree with those who say it's fine to eat it... Though I would be hesitant to leave it on a blech overnight or in a kugel. Personally, I would heat it up until it's hot throughout and eat it within a few hrs of that. But I'm not basing that off any solid science... Just my gut instinct Smile so take it or leave it. Enjoy it either way!

oh my goodness, no! please do not eat the kugel or feed it to your children!!! It's going to be 8 days old.

According to the FDA: Cooked potatoes and other cooked vegetables can be safely kept in the refrigerator 3 to 4 days

In an airtight container you can maaaaybe stretch it to 7 -- but gosh, not 8.

Every single food safety guidelines says otherwise. Cooked food does grow bacteria after 4 days. So what super secretive guidelines is he following? Sounds more like a cover up to serve people bad food. I really hope he's more responsible than that. The biggest waste is to hurt people by giving them food poisoning that was totally preventable.

As well as the eggs.

I constantly get shocked in this site at how lenient people are with using old food. I’m always over cautious. Both because of safety and because the thought of possibly eating something that’s off, grosses me out.

It's scary how people are so obsessed with not wasting food they will go to great lengths to even eat spoiled food. Throwing out spoiled food is not considered wasting food.

I’m not trying to hurt anyone but I hate going to houses like all of you saying it’s ok for shabbos.

It’s honestly gross. The dips from the week before that have a thin congealed layer… the fish tastes so strongly fishy because you made it on Monday for supper and put the rest in the fridge for shabbos. The blueberry pie out on the counter all night.

I can’t believe there are actually responses saying it’s ok. I would never eat kugel past 3 days. Fish maybe 2 days. Dips aren’t good for much more than a week once opened.
