Grocery budget for a couple with a toddler living in Brooklyn in 2024?
Based on your budget in Brooklyn if you are in this stage, or based on your grocery budget in Brooklyn now, what would you think it should be?

How about you tell us what you’re spending and we’ll tell you if it’s average or not

How would you tell me that? By telling me how much you spend? LOL
So why not just start there?

Two toddlers who both get lunch/snack in playgroup and we go away about once a month for Shabbos. We spend about $700 without being very careful including takeout/Starbucks (work long hours…) not including non-food items.

are you including diapers/paper goods etc? I edited my post to exclude that. Do you host a lot for shabbos? We aren’t very careful. We have chicken most nights, and I pick up takeout or a lunch more often than I’d like to admit.
We don’t have time to chase sales at different stores so exclusively shop in Moishe’s (went back and forth between Bingo and Moishe’s) but think we do better here. In the summer we eat a lot more fresh produce (and berries and summer fruit are more expensive than apples!) and more convenience items like yogurt and applesauce pouches because it’s easier when they are running around outside so our bill will probably be higher then. We’re home for 3 out of 4 shabasos a month, 2 are just us and very simple but the other we spend double or triple with guests and much fancier
