Really kind of you to want to gift her! But first make sure that her husband, your son, does something. And are you going to do this annually? You don’t want her expect something every year now.. or do you?

If felt weird when my MIL got us a Happy Anniversary cake while my husband did nothing. He’s still learning about the gifting Dept lol.. some men are clueless :/

My MIL used to give me a check, but she eventually realized that I would deposit it and not spend the money on myself. I'm not much of a shopper and will wear the same clothing for years. Now she takes me shopping so she can be sure I get something for me and I don't spend my birthday money on groceries. As much as I dislike shopping I enjoy spending time with my MIL and appreciate her efforts.

My mil always sends a check for my birthday. with a really nice note. Once, she took me shopping for maternity clothes instead . I try to use it to buy something for myself or put it toward a trip or dinner with dh. I think it’s a really nice gesture. In return, I try to organize the siblings to send candy or flowers for her birthday.

A picture of her and your son - maybe from Purim or whenever, on a mug or in a frame?
