But I have no idea how to get started.
Can anyone who has written a children's book tell me how you got started?
I have an idea, but no clue where to go with it.

I just wrote a childrens book recently. hasn’t been published yet but I’ve signed contract with publisher. write the book and submit to publishing house of your choice. it can be a wait until you hear back. if they don’t accept it, submit elsewhere etc. publishers usually takes care of illustrations. no need to worry about tht. have fun and good luck!

Yup, also wrote and submitted. If it needs some editing they'll do that too.
If it gets rejected from a few places, have someone objective and blunt give you feedback about it. Don't just go and self-publish. Sometimes a good idea doesn't translate well into a good book. Or sometimes it needs major revision.
