I live in a basement apartment, and I have windows that swing open inward. My landlord covered the windows with contact paper for privacy, but it looks horrible. Also, if we open the window for air then anyone can see straight in. Any ideas for another way to cover the windows while still letting in light would be great!
The windows are right under the ceiling, so there's no real clearance for a curtain rod, since they open outward.

Cheap mini blinds
You can open them very slightly to get sunlight and still have privacy
And they really don’t cost much if you don’t want to spend on an apartment you might not stay in for long.

I would love if anyone can post links? Is there a way I can hang curtains with only ~2" clearance between the top of the window (which swings out) and the ceiling?

Maybe you can take a picture and show it to someone in lowes or Home Depot? They can be very helpful.

oh wow! this looks like exactly what I need. so they will make blinds to fit onto the glass itself?

They will cut it for you both in lowes and Home Depot if you give them the measurements
