My 5 week old has been awake for the past 6 hours straight. Only wants to be held. Cries 2 minutes after being put down, every single time. Tried the bouncer, the swing, the stroller, the bassinet, the bed with me. I’m going out of my mind.

Is he wet or dirty?

Full tummy? (If you are nursing did you eat something that might not have sat with him?)

Sick?

I would do a contact nap to get him out of the overtired mode. And not try to put him down at all for the duration of that nap.

Do a warm bath. Works like magic for mine to get into sleep mode.

IS he/she gaining properly?
I could be projecting but in hindsight my baby was starving. I would give a bottle (either pumped milk or formula) so you can see how much they are actually getting. My baby 'nursed' for really long but was not sucking properly.

Bottle feeding, he’s eating fine. Yesterday by well visit doctor said he’s gaining beautifully (no he didn’t get shots yesterday)
He’s fed, burped, clean diaper, not constipated, bathed, warm but not hot and I’m holding him. And he still won’t sleep!

Bring his bouncer into the bathroom, strap him in, and take a long shower.

Does he fall asleep while eating? Any way to get him to sleep just do it! Don’t worry about “bad habits” (if you are)

5-6 weeks olds usually cluster feed. It is possible that his usual bottle was not enough

How can a baby suffocate in his bouncer?

We use the baby Bjorn bouncer and I’ve never heard of suffocation risk

Steam suffocates. There was such a story lo aleinu.

Hope baby's sleeping by now but he was maybe just overtired. Next time do whatever you need to get him to sleep. Hold, rock, shush pat whatever.

Finally sleeping BH!
I still don’t know what was going on. He wasn’t hungry, I offered more food and he didn’t want it. I was holding him pretty much the entire time, rocking and shushing him.
