I'm looking to get my son who's turning 8 a watch that has these features:
Time
Date
Alarm
Weather
Compass

But the reviews say that a lot of those other features are not really reliable, so at the end of the day it's just a bit of an expense watch for telling time.
I'm open to getting a smart watch, but I would want one that cannot call, text, take pictures, has no games, and that I can put whatever apps on it I want, like compass and weather.
Does such a watch exist?

Yes. I have a cheap smart watch £20 that has most of those features besides for compass.

It cannot call, text etc but you can't put apps on it, it comes with the features.
I think dh's watch has a compass also, I'll ask him.
