I've got a pattern to make a skirt for my 3 1/2 year old and I want to make the same skirt for my 1 1/2 year old, it's a very simple skirt - 3-band gathered skirt with elastic waist. So how much to I take off each band for my younger daughter?

Measure the difference between their hip/waist measurement and that percentage is about it for the pattern. It shouldn't be that much of a difference unless the older one is chubby and the younger one is skinny. If you mean the length, then it's pretty much done the same way. I don't even use a pattern for a tiered skirt because all it really is, is figuring it out mathematically. I do usually use a pattern, though for other things.

yeah I would just measure the little dd and divide the height in 3 ... get a rough estimate of the width of each piece of material by subtracting a bit from the pattern so you don't have too much around the sides ... but should be quite easy ... good luck !!!
