Looking at the hotes for accommodation and I’m wondering if there will be lots of protests in the city centre/Mamila area.
Would it be a bad idea to stay in that area?
Thanks.

There are often a lot of noisy protests near that area, but I don't think right in town centre, more like Rechov Azza, Rechov Balfour, etc
Mainly on Motzei shabbat.

Do these stop traffic or more just noise?

Yes sometimes some roads are closed off.
There are usually other ways round though.

Would the lightrail be affected by protests? Mamilla is right near the lightrail, and a bad area for cars in general, tons of traffic.

Didn't they change Rechov Aza to Beeri or something?

Normally the light rail is affected when Peleg demonstrates about something. Not by the government protests.

I'm talking about the street Derech Aza in Rechavia.
I hadn't heard that they changed the name.
