Or they wanna feel good about themselves and show off that they have insiders info but are afraid if they share it here they’ll get into hot water (and probably in real life share it with everyone but warn them not to tell anyone and really they themselves didn’t hear the info firsthand and are just excited that they’re in the know of some good gossip)
