I am obsessed with them - I just skip the s-x scenes, but love the character building and accurate historical fiction that transports you to a different time without romanticizing it.
Any recommendations?

I loved Ken Follets Pillars of the earth, fall of giants less, and the others I liked even less
Poldark was great in the beginning and got worse as the books went on
Will look into Into the Wilderness
I also love Edward Rutherfords London and New York
I've looked at those lists - I've either read them or they don't apeal
I really want a series where I can really get sucked into the characters without it being to fantastical ( A discovery of witches was good, but to much fantasy for my taste)
