Hi, we’re a young family with 2 children knh and looking to move to Monsey near family. We don’t have much of a social life in Monsey aside from family and we would love to set ourselves up for that as where we’re coming from was really great in that regard.
Problem is how expensive we’re finding Monsey to be. Looked into Blueberry Hills and Victoria Gardens, and it looks like it would be at or over $3k per month. Any other areas to look into- maybe even an area of blocks with younger families as well? I like Haverstraw but it seems to only be houses available. Basements are tricky because it’s very hard to meet people especially if it’s on an older block.
Thanks in advance

Small rental apartments can almost only be found in the chasidish neighborhoods in Monsey.

And we're looking to get out of Monsey as it's become so overcrowded & housing is so expensive.

What does your hubby do?
Do you meet the criteria for Kiryas Radin?

He’s working in healthcare. It seems like Kiryas Radin only accepts couples with the men in kollel…

We’re looking for 3-4 bedrooms. Seems like anything that size is well over 3k

Maybe you should work with a rental broker to help you find what you're looking for.

We rented a basement in Chestnut Ridge (Scotland Hill.)
It's not a development, with everyone living close together, and most people are much older (many have high school kids), but there are community events, and people are friendly. And there are lots of babies and toddlers, so maybe you can get to know people through playdates.
I think Dexter Park (another Chestnut Ridge area) has a slightly younger crowd. It's also more yeshivish (I don't know if that's a pro or con for you.)
