How much do 6-8 grade girls make per week working in summer backyard camps or daycamps as a counselor?

Please only give data from the past 3 years (not from your daughter who is now in 12th grade or older!)
Please specify where you live and what grade.

E.g. Brooklyn, 7th grader, backyard camp, $90/week
(I made up that data)

Thank you!

For those of you wondering, I'm the mom of a young but very geshikt, positive, and helpful dd who will be working in a backyard camp this summer and I'm curious to hear the going rates.

Not true!
Daycare pay way more.
I have a daycamp myself and although I can't pay daycare rates I'm paying girls way more than their grade!
My dd coming out of 8th gr will be getting $115/week.
I paid my helpers last year $450/4 wks.

Wow! That's amazing! Lucky to your camper helpers!

Acc to the x10 method, do you mean a 6th grader gets 60, 7th grader gets 70, etc?

What if the camp charges 120/week and has 10 kids and your dd works hard. You don't think she deserves at least 100? (Aka pay for one kid)

Lakewood big day camp $100 for the month. But they give them free transportation, free lunch, free canteen and night staff trips.

It’s supply and demand. Where I live there are more girls than jobs available. My dd is very happy to have a job, she enjoys working with cute kids, is treated very well by the person running the camp, gets a little treat with her payment every Friday and is very happy with her salary of 10X her grade knowing that’s what everyone else locally is getting.
6th graders for sure are not looked at as the most highly desirable employee here since you can easily get someone older. Mothers sometimes pay the camp their dd’s salary so they can have a job since it costs them much less then sending to camp.

A 9 year old working as a counselor? How is that okay or responsible? A 9 year old needs a counselor....
Even a 6th grader is very young to be a counselor.

My dd was not happy at all with this arrangement. She felt extremely taken advantage of.
It really depends on the kid and the camp.
Price of camp went up tremendously I don't understand how it's fair to offer so little. The counselors work hard, for many hours in the heat!

whatever it is, be sure to know BEFORE your daughter starts working.
if you want to avoid disappointment, then you need to know your expectations.
And, if it isn’t what you want, then search for another place and see if you can do better.
My girls have earned $40-100 a week all through high school.
It’s very little money and they do it anyway because this is what is available for them.
If your daughter wants to earn money, she can be a private mother’s helper for $5 an hour.

What kind of camp pays so well?
That means 5-6 grader getting over $100/week, right?

For 1 month. It may be on the lower end but it was an amazing first experience for her.
