Anyone know what this is? Something we're supposed to find fashionable?

Its a hat shaitel for Cousin It, with most of the hair folded under.
Actually, I really *do* think its a hat shaitel with bangs and most of the hair folded under.

Yeah, but at first I thought it was something dafke for dati men. That the round thing in the middle is a kippa, with hair attached. It made sense. Men often use kippot to cover their bald spots. So this would be for when your bald spot became bigger than the kippa. Then I realized it's "just" a toupe

ha, its a toupee.
I know a frum lawyer who wears one to court instead of a yarmulke sometimes -- no attacks! not that hes not proud of being a jew, but he either cant wear a head covering in the courtroom, or depending on the case with possible antisemitism stuff.

why attack?
As long as the head is covered!
I know at least some rabbis ruled a toupet or wig is fine. Many older people prefer a hat, cap, bérêt over or instead a kippa... to a kippa. They're just not used to them worn outside.
