Since we had threads on mice, fruit flies, moths, bed bugs and what-not, now its time for the ANTS!!! How do I get rid of them? I keep finding little colonies (or 'chasunahs', as my kids call them!) all over the house. Its not just in the kitchen and bathroom, they're in the bedrooms as well. I keep spraying them which kills the whole colony in a second, but 2 days later I'll find them elsewhere. I also find individual ones here and there. Any foolproof methods to get rid of them for good?? Shakleemom, any ideas???

spray with a stronger spray outside the circumference of your house ... including doors & windows if you can ... spray also the edging of the rooms they get into ... there are some "friendly" versions in case you are worried about the kids (but I don't find they work as well) ...

I heard cinnamon is an ant repellant.

when my mom had ants, the exterminator put these round little can things iwth poison or something in it that attracted ants and killed them I guess. I also have ants but only near my front door. I am afraid of puttin those cans in myhouse since my 19 month old might eat it but if you dont have little ones it may be worth a try. or put them behind furniture so little kids wont see it.

My dh has a big spray canister that he fills with strong pesticide from the local hardware store. He sprays the perimeter of the house and it gets rid of most ants and other bugs. You have to be careful with kids so it's good to do it when they won't be out much. We haven't had much of a problem the last few years. We once had carpenter ants and had professionals do the job which was only good for one year. Now we do it ourselves when needed.
