Is 3 oz. per feeding enough to send to the babysitter for my 2 month old baby?
I have no idea how much he usually eats since I only nurse.

They say infants that age eat around 4 oz. per feeding. Send a little extra in case.

3 oz. was definitely enough for my baby at that age - for a short time at the babysitter.

Not more than 4 hours. Should be 1 feeding.

I would try to send a bit more than that. what if your baby doesn't want eat right before you bring him/her to the babysitter?
the truth is, you can always try it out and see what happens...

Expressed Mommy milk is more potent, if that's the word. Chavamom posted a calculator to figure out how much you need, maybe someone can locate it?

sounds like the "calculator" might be a good idea for her to check up hisorerus, but the truth is that all babies are very different!!!
she really needs to see how much her baby goes thru at the babysitter and then continue from there.

I think you should give more, to be safe than sorry.

I used to pump exclusively and my daughter would take anywhere from 2 oz to 6 oz per feeding, so I would definitely send more.

nicole is right. u dont know how much ure baby is drinking. I hate it when parents send in too little milk. then the poor baby is looking at me and crying I want more milk. and I cant do anything for it. because the mother didnt send in enough..

a 3 month old can easly drink up a 5-6 oz bottle of milk. formalla or bmilk.
3oz what are u thinking.... the lady did that to me the first day and then the poor baby only cryed one hr till the mother got her... ooh vehhh . the next day she send in more....dont think it is one hr or only one feed. 4 hrs etc . the poor babysitter is the one who has to listhen to your baby crying for food.

I've posted this link elsewhere, but here: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pum......html

This will tell you how much milk your baby needs for each missed feed. Babies do NOT need as much breastmilk as they do formula. For one feed for a 2 mos old, 3 oz should be enough.

every baby is different.
I pumped for my older one.
I would suggest sending in 4-5 ounces the first few days and ask the babysitter to let you know how much he/she actually drank, so you know for the future. Also, if you use her all the time, ask her to keep an extra bottle in the freezer for emergency.
Also, when I went back to work he was 2 months old and if I remember correctly he was drinking 4 oz at a feeding of breast milk. But he was a big baby.
Now my new one is kn'h 4 weeks...will see how much he drinks!!
I think The Everything BreastFeeding Book talks about how many ounces a baby of a certain usually drinks.

First, kol Kavod that you have nursed as long as you have!

Ask the sitter to write down how much baby eats.

Try to send at least 4 ounces for a feeding. My Little guy nursed non-stop and there is no telling when those growth spurts will rear their heads!
