I have a recipe that calls for a cup of margarine. How much oil do I need to substitute?

Check it out online. Usually I think you reduce the fat when you use oil instead of margarine, and add some liquid.

What are you baking? In general:
1 c. oil for cake
7/8 c. oil for cookies

you can also use bananas as a substitute for margarine, but obviously you will get the added banana flavor. same measurements.

I always substitute 1 cup oil per 1 cup margarine. I never use margarine. I'm told my chocolate chip cooking are yum. They have the substitution.

I use 3/4 oil to one cup marg. I never use margarine, I refuse to have it in the house.
Like Little Engine, I get rave reviews on my baked goods and lots of disbelief that I didn't use margarine.

I think oil tastes better than margarine, but perhaps I'm biased. I don't like the way margarine tastes.

Below is the original recipe. I also substitute regular sugar for the brown sugar, 1 cup oil for the margarine, leave out the vanilla and nuts. I use 1 1/2 bags of chocolate chips which I think is extra.
3/4 c Granulated sugar
1 c Brown sugar
1 c Margarine
1 tb Vanilla
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
3 c Flour
3/4 ts Baking soda
3/4 ts Salt
3 c Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c Chopped nuts (optional)
Bake at 375 for ~10 minutes till edges look done and middle is soft. Let cool

They are soft and chewy. People by us like them frozen though, which makes them harder. Also baking longer makes them harder.

Don't know exactly, but at least 40-50. When you bake them, don't make them too big bec they expand, and space them. Once you have your first batch out you can adjust.
