Hi,

I am looking for a certain type of cake for my daughters Bas Mitzvah. I don't want the regular cakes with icing or a ice cream cake. I would like a cake that is covered in fondant and made into a certain shape. I know that there are people that do this in their home.
Does any one know who does this?

General imamother rule: if someone asks for info without saying where they live, it means they live in Brooklyn.

I apologize for all my fellow brooklynites if we have offended anyone by our self- centered way of thinking! LOL

I am familiar with strauss bakery. Thats not what I am looking for. I really want a cake that is covered in fondant and is different looking. I find that the people that do the baking in the house turn out much better looking and tasting cakes then the bakery.

I dont know her personally, but I've seen her work.
Check out her page on facebook, it sounds like what you want: custom cake made to order.
Good luck!

I have found that most bakeries will do anything you want if you tell them what to do. I had a beautiful cake shaped like a cradle made for my daughter's kiddush (covered in fondant). They had never done anything like it before but I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they were able to copy it. (I'm not in Brooklyn though. Here in the MO world we need to use bakers with hechsherim which a lot of home businesses don't have.)
