My dd has a hard time handling dispointment.
when she cant have something the way she wanted to, she cant get over it, she just cries. she knows that crying wont help, since I never give in to crying. but she's so sad and disappointed that she lies in her bed and cries.
how can I help her learn to handle disppointment more easily?

Sorry, I can't help with a 3 year old, but I'm sure someone else can.

Do you have How to talk so kids can listen and listen so kids will talk? She talks in there about emphasising with kids, giving them what they want in fantasy, etc. It's been very helpful with my young kids. Like if we invite a friend and the friend can't come, oh you wish Sarah could come today. It's very upsetting thatSArah can't come (child still weeping hysterically). After a few minutes of me saying how dissapointed they are I'll switch to a solution (how about we go to the park, would you like to color a picture, can we invite Leah), but if I don't acknowledge their feelings first any "solution" will fall on deaf (crying) ears.
Anyway it's a good book I highly recommend it
