it'll stretch as you wear it ... cotton does that ...

I hope so. It is my most decent sweater and this was the first wash. I finally allowed myself to splurge a little once (ralph lauren) and this is what happened..

well did you dry it ?!
maybe if that doesn't work try wetting it again and then while flat re-stretch and do not dry ...
or even bring it back to the store if it doesn't fit after washing ... for a splurge (if you followed washing instructions)
