I have a wonderful non jewish lady who babysits my twins. she is truly a blessing and my kids love her. before she worked by me she used to work for ppl on the upper west side and is used to a lot more luxury like $ even days shes not needed for ( we decided that I get a few day sover yom tovs when she doesnt come and I dont pay but I do give her $ for thanksgiving, x-mas and new years) anyway I want to give her a x-mas bonus.. I'm not sure what she is expecting. we have friends who told me I have to give a weeks salary but thats over $400.. I was thinking maybe $250 but I dont wanna seem cheap cuz she may be used to much more and she'd be upset.
what do you think?

I think if you like this babysitter alot and you want to make her happy- give her 1 weeks salary.

One week salary is standard and usually expected. It's not only about the money, it's also a message to her about how much you value her. The only situation I would recommend less than a week is if she has only been working for you a short time.
