I'm thinking of going off dairy for a month to see if this will halt Mendy's back to back ear infections.

So what milk substitute tastes the most like milk? Rice dream? Soy milk? almond milk? mostly for my coffees and cereal with milk.

I've only tried soy milk so far, but that tastes pretty much like the real thing to me. I sometimes have it at night when I'm fleishigs

why not get a little carton of each to see which you like best? I use soy milk a lot in cooking and baking.

I also use soy milk. I found rice and oat milk to be more "waterly".
You might want to check fat content and also to see if it has added calcium.
We like the one that's sweetened with apple juice or raw cane sugar.
Unsweetened/natural ones doesn't taste good for drinking straight.

Sometimes soy milk "curdle" when you pour into hot liquid like coffee,
but you just have to stir it. (Also heard you can pour soy milk before tea/coffee
but haven't tried it).

I love almond milk because it creamy and not watery and has the taste most similar to milk.

I use it when I'm fleishig and when we're traveling because it comes in cartons and doesn't need to refrigerated until opened.

Good luck!

I like Van Enriched rice dream in baking. I know you're a coffee drinker - what about the frozen creamer in coffee ?

According to my accupuncturist, soy has the many of the same properties as milk, and she told me to stay off of soy milk and cow's milk. Almond milk has less sugar than rice milk, but I think that overall, I prefer Wal Mart's generic soymilk. Almond milk and rice milk is tied for me. I've been drinking rice milk just because it's cheaper than almond milk, and I don't see much difference between the two.

Yes, I wouldn't use large amounts of coffee whitener or creamer.

If I were you, I'd buy a small container each of soymilk, almond, and ricemilk and see what you think. Personally, I'm not picky and am happy with nearly any type of milk substitute with my cereal. I just get the one with the most calcium and vitamin D and try and get fat-free.

as I said, we use the vanilla enr rice dream in our house BUT the taste of it in coffee doesn't thrill me.

I know it's not healthy.

I'm just throwing it out there as a maybe for once a day.

soy milk can be much cheaper since it is so much more popular, so supermarkets have their own brands.

It also depends on what brand you buy. They all taste different within the spectrum.
